One of the most-asked questions regarding a Murder Mystery Company dinners is - How does the event flow? How do we schedule things throughout the event so that the guests can eat while the food is fresh and they get to enjoy the show?
Below is a suggested timeline for a typical four-course, full service meal.
Breakdown:
7 - 7:30 pm: Guests arrive, and the actors are present to greet them, explain the rules, distribute Suspect information, and start setting the scene.
7:30 - 8 pm: First course is served; The actors start Act I and introduce all of the audience members playing Suspects. This is followed by the "untimely" death of one of the actors!
8 - 8:15 pm: Second course is served; First Investigation Time. Everyone is up and mingling, looking for clues and questioning Suspects. Plates may be cleared during this time.
8:15 - 8:45 pm: Second course is eaten; Act II begins. The Detective arrives to lead the Act. Usually, the Detective will interrogate a guest in an amusing way. The Detective will also discover some shocking secrets!
8:45 - 9 pm: Main course is served; Second Investigation Time. Everyone is up and mingling, looking for clues and questioning Suspects. Plates may be cleared during this time.
9 - 9:20 pm: Main course is eaten; Act III begins. The Detective reveals shocking secrets and clues about the Suspects.
9:20 - 9:25 pm: Dessert is served; Final Sentencing Sheets are passed out, giving guests a chance to guess who did it! Plates may be cleared during this time.
9:25 - 9:30 pm: Awards are distributed, and bows are taken! Awards include, but are not limited to, Best Actor, Best Actress, Detective of the Night and Dead Last Place (worst guess).
